Volunteering at The Brewster Center Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at The Brewster Center! Our volunteer program is aimed at meeting the needs of the Brewster Center and the community while at the same time offering challenging and rewarding opportunities for volunteers to grow and be a part of the movement to end domestic violence. The Brewster Center has a long history of providing refuge and support to victims of domestic violence. Since 1984 we have grown tremendously. We now have 2 shelters, an outreach and advocacy center, 3 satellite advocacy offices, 8 transitional housing units, 14 permanent housing units and an administration building. We have just under 50 employees and an annual budget of over 1 million dollars. This expansion has allowed us to assist thousands of victims and survivors every year. As you read through the volunteer job descriptions you will note that they all require domestic violence orientation. At The Brewster Center we firmly believe that domestic violence is a community problem and requires a community response. We ask that everyone go through the orientation so that if the need arises you will have learned potentially life-saving information to share with your neighbors, friends, families, and coworkers. Everyone can be a part of making our community safer. Our current volunteer program is made up of 6 volunteer jobs. Each one of them is integral to the mission to end relationship violence. Education, resources and support are the most powerful tools any community can use to eradicate violence. Our volunteer positions were specifically designed as tools of social change. We hope that you will join us in building a better, safer community. If you are interested in being a part of our volunteer team please call to request our application packet. 320-7556 "Never
