Volunteering at the Brewster Center
We really appreciate your interest in assisting and volunteering at the Brewster Center!
Brewster Center is extremely proud of its volunteer program which plays a really important role in developing the community. The volunteer program at Brewster Center has two goals. Firstly, it provides solutions to the needs and demands of Brewster Center. Secondly, it gives a unique opportunity for volunteers to grow and become an important part of the Brewster Center movement. Brewster Center commitment is to end domestic violence.
The Brewster Center started functionality in 1984 providing refuge and support to victims of domestic violence. Since its inception, the Brewster Center has expanded exponentially. We now have 2 shelters, an outreach and advocacy center, 3 satellite advocacy offices, 8 transitional housing units, 14 permanent housing units and an administration building. Brewster Center comprises of approximately 50 employees and has an annual budget of over 1 million dollars. Our growth has allowed us to touch and assist a larger and massive audience each year.
Each volunteer that works with the Brewster Center goes through an extensive domestic violence orientation program before joining. At The Brewster Center we firmly believe that domestic violence is a community problem and requires a community response. The orientation program provides the key and in-depth knowledge of assisting the community at large. Information allows the volunteers to better assist the community. Everyone should play their part in making the community a safer and better place to live.
Currently, Brewster Center has six volunteer jobs available. Each one of them is integral to the mission to end relationship violence. Brewster Center believes that education, resources and support are the most important tools to eradicate violence from the community. The objective of each volunteer is to become a catalyst of social change.
