Merger Announcement

Job Openings at
The Brewster Center

March 3, 2008

I want to take the opportunity to inform you of some exciting news.

In early February, the Boards of Directors from the Tucson Centers for Women and Children and the Brewster Center Domestic Violence Services voted to begin the process that will result in the merger of these two outstanding organizations to better serve all survivors of domestic violence in Southern Arizona. In addition, the Brewster Center Board of Directors voted to appoint me as the Interim Executive Director of the Brewster Center.

When the merger process is complete, we will be able to:

  • Create a true “one-stop” organization that provides emergency shelter, counseling and support, prevention education, long-term housing, job training, child care and other key services;
  • Advocate more effectively for additional services on the local, state and national levels with one vision; and
  • Help more people and more families in our community.

Our goal is to have this merger completed by July 1, 2008.

We’re in the process of gathering feedback from donors, employees and board members from both agencies, which will provide critical guidance in creating one successful organization to meet the needs of domestic violence survivors in our community.

Thank you for your support and your long-standing commitment to creating a safe environment for families and children. We value your partnership as we move forward together.

Sincerely,

Sarah Jones

Interim Executive Director
