Reports to: Finance Director
Starting Salary: $33,000/year
FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours: Generally 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Hours may vary depending upon the tasks.
The Staff Accountant will be reporting directly to the Finance Director and will solely responsible for the administration of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing for the agency.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Ensures timely payment of bills and improving the cash flows wherever applicable.
Identifies gaps and discrepancies in the bills and payments.
Records and processes vendor statements as well as handles payment complaints or discrepancies.
Prepares, enters and calculates semi-weekly payroll information, shift differentials, holidays, vacation and sick time into payroll system in a timely manner for completion of review and delivery.
Prepares and enters all necessary monthly journal entries.
Posting of all monies received to the proper GL and monies deposited in a timely manner.
Reconciling all bank and credit card accounts on a monthly basis.
Reporting of all variances in reimbursement request, petty cash flows, and other expense disclosures.
Distributing and tracking of all agency credit cards, in conjunction with policy.
Assisting Finance Director in maintaining all financial records and the general ledger on an accrual basis. The records will be maintained in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and government standards.
Monitoring of program budgets by preparing monthly budget reports.
Preparing and assisting the Finance Director with monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial billings and client statistics for submission to funding sources as required by contracts.
Preparing annual audit reports including all required schedules.
Attending all staff meetings and trainings as required.
Filing and maintaining all appropriate documentation related to the position is organized.
Assisting and greeting guests when and if applicable.
Acting as Notary for any business process.

Minimum requirement is a Bachelors degree in Accounting OR Associates degree in accounting or related field. Minimum work experience is 2 years in an account position.
Practical knowledge of current accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll procedures.
Experience using QuickBooks required, Pro Premier 2007 non-profit edition preferred.
Proficiency in MS Excel (XP), MS Word (XP), MS Outlook (2003) and 10-key (speed and accuracy), additionally MS Access knowledge is preferred.
Knowledge of principals, concepts and practices of non-profit organizations preferred.
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
